Q. In many of your discussions, you treat asset management like it is a technology security issue. What’s up with that?

Short answer:   It seems like the responsibilities of, for instance, a software asset manager range from clerical worker, to technician, to purchasing agent, to negotiations expert, to change manager, to paralegal, to configuration manager, to systems security and more.  Check out the attached information - answer the strategic questions - and see if your asset managers are capable of delivering the incredible savings possible with an effective technology asset management initiative.  But BEWARE: Good asset managers do not grow on trees - They come from the ranks of very dedicated and intelligent personnel and they need to have solid executive support, credible training, and experience to be successful.
