Project Management: In-Class Resource Links Spring 2008 Print E-mail

One of the key differences between a successful project manager--a successful ANYTHING--and an "also ran" is that a majority of effective project management professionals know enough to take responsibility for their own learning.

As part of all of our courses, we expect students to step up to the job at hand and create/expand their own learning program. This need not take the form of intellectual torture or cramming massive numbers of books into your already over-crowded luggage. Instead, it means that you take advantage of any and every learning opportunity that comes your way. Our role becomes less that of "teacher" and more that of guide and coach.

With this in mind, we try to locate a new set of course resources with each new course. Taken separately, they may not seem like much but, when you begin following these resources--and the others to which they will lead, you begin building a substantial personal/professional project management library.

Project Management Professional Development Program - Overview Print E-mail

If you are tired of attending training programs that do not deliver measurable value, or that force you to sit through volumes of vendor hype, this is the program for you. A majority of project management courses offered appear to be focused more on industry standards than on gaining maximum results with minimal (but realistic) investment.

This program, developed and delivered by Alan Plastow, MAT, PMP, is directly focused on the needs of the SME (small- to middle-sized enterprise). As such, the core focus is on helping real world project managers clarify industry best practices in a manner that enables them to genuinely apply those practices to their specific projects and project environments. What's more--even experienced project managers (or those preparing for certification) will gain fresh perspectives and ideas for building project success.

Take a look at our program overview Project Management Professional Development Program Overview
