Managing the Dynamics of Change: The Fastest Path to Creating an Engaged and Productive Work Force, McGraw-Hill, by Jerald M. Jellison, Ph.D.

To be effective, technology portfolio management professionals absolutely must come to terms with the concepts and techniques of successful organizational change management. Virtually every project we take on is considered at risk because WE are the people introducing controls and formal processes into a frequently chaotic (ad hoc?) technology asset management environment.

Jellison delivers a wide range of change process tips. Most interesting, to me, is his analogy of the “J Curve” for change process evolution. In my experience, and that of a majority of technology asset managers with whom I communicate, this analogy is 100% on target with the realities of change management in the work place.

In this useful text, Jellison details an eleven element approach to genuinely identifying and managing change. It's an easy read and it works. At the end of the day, we absolutely must take personal responsibility for our own knowledge development processes. This book is a great addition to your professional home library.
