Are you a "white collar" worker? I think you'll agree that most professionals in the technology portfolio management fields are. We have a serious range of highly valuable skills to bring to the table in nearly any company or country where we reside. Our task is to watch over the value derived from every dollar spent on technology-related goods and services.
Our deliverable technology portfolio management skills "should" brand each one of us as "retain at all costs" employees.
Unfortunately, we can't always rely on the cognative capabilities--sanity?--of the decision makers who determine who goes and who stays during tough economic times. United Professionals is a nonprofit association of white collar professionals created to advocate on behalf of those who have discovered that, no matter how good an employee they are; no matter how diligent they are in enabling their companies to grow and prosper, find themselves inexplicably tossed out like this morning's used diaper.
Take a Look at United Professionals.
According to United Professionals’ founder, Barbara Ehrenreich, “America's white collar professionals have long since lost the job security and middle-class status that were supposed to go with a college education and hard work. Now, in the current economy, we're losing our jobs, our health insurance and sometimes our homes. But we still have our skills, and we can put them to use fighting for a decent safety net and a fair economy. Join UP for mutual support and advocacy for health reform, adequate unemployment benefits, and an economy that honors our skills and effort instead of throwing them away!”

Please keep in mind: Here at The Network! we firmly believe that you take responsibility for shaping your own personal/professional future. That means, no matter what happens to you in your immediate job, YOU have pursued and acquired the knowledge and experience that are vitally needed by an enormous range of employers. Groups like United Professionals exist to offer you the support you need to go the distance. If you are out of work--or feeling threatened--don't give up. Get back on top of your own career and take back control.

Check out UP or, at the very least, get to your local library and check out some of their self-paced learning materials. Feel free to contact BizTechNet.org if you would like to connect for additional support.
